The following points discussed here reflects on the unacceptable specific procedures and the tools which are harmful and outdated that many doctors are still performing with those tools which are detrimental to all the transplant procedure. Never try to say yes to the doctor if such procedures are offered.
Unacceptable Procedures:
Flap:
In this dangerous procedure, the flap of skin with collection of cells, hair strands and follicles are got shifted from one section of the head to the front hairline by spreading it on three side, without separating it from the blood and severing completely from its scalp. This procedure is conducted as major surgery and usually practiced in hundreds of the hospitals. The flap used is basically one inches wide and round about three to six inches long in the length. With a systematic approach it is twisted in order to change the flap in order to facing outward. There a knot forms with the twist and leaves a great lump. The serious problems related to this are given as under:
Great many chances of partial of almost complete chance of distortion or the death of the flap, leaving an unimaginable distort behind it.
The hair starts to grow oppositely in the direction.
Great many infections start to reveal.
Another greatest problem it creates is in the skins of the forehead, loosened skin hanging over to forehead, giving an negative appearance.
Scarring begins to create in both areas of stitching and position of the flap.
Free Form Flaps:
Another kind of flapping used by most doctors is free-from flaps, the most dangerous surgeries carried out by hundreds of the doctors today. In this complex procedure, all the four sides are cut and then the flap is basically removed from the donor section, so it will set in the balding area, giving the direction of natural growth of the hair. But it is recommended that not the flap or any other method is ever done successfully because of various problems and infections it creates.
Linear and line grafts:
It is another most dangerous procedure that doctors use nowadays, in this surgery a minimum of 2 to 4 millimeters of linear strip of the donor hair is removed from any side or especially from the back of the head. Hence, here the whole problem just gets raised. Instead of dividing the donor strip into small pieces, doctors actually places the whole strip on various section of the bald area. This makes the growing hair to form different clusters or lines which totally seems awkward and unacceptable cosmetically.
Round and square grafts:
Another method is same as the earlier one but with just few differences. The same 2 to 4 millimeters of linear strips are used but placed in shapes of round or square on the bald area. Although, this is the technique to enable the hair grow but unfortunately the hair starts to grow in clusters, still looking unnatural.
You can say the different islands in the world of baldness to it. Such therapies or procedures bring chambers on the head, making you feel even sick.
Scalp Reduction:
Another barbaric and out-dated process of transplantation of the hair is Scalp reduction. Most doctors perform this process, but bear in mind! This is highly dangerous process which is used by doctors to get some bucks, down the line; it has dangerous effect in the future.
The process is carried out by cutting the skin of the bald area and taking the donor section closer to the cut one, meeting the both areas together. This process is highly dangerous and brings a lot scars on the head and infections as well.
In this process the complete hair loss can be occurred permanently in both sections because the actual hair sections are detached from the growing cells of the hair.
Hair Lift:
Another most dangerous way of transplantation is the hair lifting. The sibling of the scalp reduction, this process is a complete barbaric and cruelty to the natural processes.
At the beginning of this process the scalp area is paralyzed or loosened at the major arteries of the scalp. To avoid damaging of these blood vessels, the nerves are cut and tied together and a complete lifting is carried out.
This brings some devastating aspects like this leaves your head completely numb and most of times the surgical scars around the ear gets visible. A complete inhumane!!!!
Scalp expander:
An invisible activity carried out by the doctors between the scalp area and the skull. Some silicon balloons are used and then inserted into the pockets crated between the scalp and the skull. After the incision heals, the balloons are the inflated by the series of Salt-solutions by injections. The head is then gets blown up in size to two or three than its actual size. The extreme pressure is done to expand the scalp tissues.
It is cautioned that DO NOT go for this radical procedure which is a complete barbaric.
The Unacceptable tools:
Dilators:
After creating very tiny slits in which the transplanted hair will fit into, most doctors choose to insert dilator; these are hollow steel pins which resemble the straw. Continuously they remove the dilator and places the tiny hair grafts in the transplanting areas or chambers.
Many doctors are not capable of handling the dilator and eventually unable to fit the tiny hair grafts accordingly.
The tissues of recipient site may get distorted.
Lasers:
With the advancement of the technology, doctors have started to use the laser technology for the purposes of transplantation. These lasers are usually ultra or super pulsed carbon dioxide lasers to create the specific holes in the recipient area into which the hair grafts are inserted.
Much of the controversies in results are found:
In some areas of laser used, patients reported of no hair or less growth.
Laser crated sites produce more scarring and tissue deaths overall.
After laser transplantation the healing gets the slowest process.
